Effective 01/18/2024, the state of Virginia adopted the following codes:
Note that, the USBC supersedes all local building codes and regulations. Va. Code § 36-98 and 13 VAC 5-63-20. Pursuant to Section R103.2 of the VCC, for construction after the effective date for the adoption of the 2021 codes, January 18th, 2024, permit applicants may follow either the 2018 or 2021 versions of the USBC for one year, or until January 18, 2025, when the 2021 codes must be followed. 13 VAC 5-63-30; 2021 VCC § R103.2.
