Overview

The city of Manitowoc, Wi. adopted the Wisconsin Uniform Building Code (WUBC) developed by the Southeastern Wisconsin Building Inspectors Association. This model code adopts the Uniform Dwelling Code in full and makes it applicable to existing structures, including pre-1980 construction. In addition, the WUBC adopts the Wisconsin's Commercial Building Code, which includes the currently adopted 2009 ICC codes IBC, IECC, IMC, IFGC, and IEBC. Manitowoc, Wi. Section 30.025 — APPLICATION OF “WISCONSIN UNIFORM DWELLING CODE”.

 

The Wisconsin Uniform Dwelling Code, Chapters SPS 320 through 325, inclusive & all amendments thereto, are herby made a partof THIS CODE by reference & shall apply to all one & two family dwellings & alterations & additions thereto. Except as provided in Section 30.55(1.), this code shall also apply to alterations & additions to all one & two family dwellings constructed prior to the effective date of the Wisconsin Uniform Dwelling Code. A copy of said code is on file in the office of the Municipal Clerk.

 

All buildings & structures hereafter erected, altered, repaired, moved or demolished that are used or designed to be used for the purpose herein defined shall comply in full with the requirements of THIS CODE.

The city of Manitowoc, Wi. provides certain grandfathered ordinances (variances to the CBC). An ordinance that is grandfathered has passed the requirements laid out by the Legislature in Wisconsin Statute §101.02(7r)(b). The grandfathered ordinances are listed below:

 

15.710 Standards for Wireless Telecommunication Facilities.

(aa) Fire Protection. Tower support buildings shall be designed and constructed with built-in ventilation. At least one smoke detector shall be installed in each support or accessory building, which, upon activation, will terminate the electrical power to the building. No combustible storage is permitted in tower support structures.
