2012 IRC(Glen Carbon, IL 9-1-8: RESIDENTIAL CODE:)

...9-1-8: RESIDENTIAL CODE: A. That certain documents, three (3) copies of which are on file in the office of the village clerk of the village of Glen Carbon being marked and designated as international residential code, 2012 edition, including appendix chapters, A, B, C, D, E, G, H, J, and K (see international residential code section R102.5, 2012 edition), as published by the International Code Council, be and is hereby adopted as the residential code of the village of Glen Carbon in the state of Illinois regulating and governing the construction, alteration, movement, enlargement, replacement, repair, equipment, location, removal and demolition of detached one- and two-family dwellings and multiple single-family dwellings (townhouses) not more than three (3) stories in height with separate means of egress as herein provided; providing for the issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor; and each and all of the regulations, provisions, conditions and terms of such international residential code, 2012 edition, published by the International Code Council, on file in the office of the village clerk of the village of Glen Carbon are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part hereof as fully set out in this section, with additions, insertions, deletions and changes, if any, prescribed in subsection B of this section....

Comments

Glen Carbon, Illinois, adopted the 2012 International Residential Code (IRC), including appendices A, B, C, D, E, G, H, J, K, with amendments. Glen Carbon, IL, Muni. Code § 9-1-8 (adoption and amendments).

Sections R313: Delete in its entirety and add the following:

“Deletion of this section does not in any way prohibit the voluntary installation of an automatic residential fire sprinkler system in townhouses and/or one- and two-family dwellings.”
 

Existing Buildings

Existing buildings, meaning buildings that were built in accordance to code at the time of construction, typically merit extra consideration in a current updated code.

Please refer to appendix J of the adopted IRC.

Glen Carbon, Illinois, did not adopt the International Existing Building Code (IEBC).
