Overview
No adoption of the IRC or IBC could be found in the municipal code; however, the Texas legislature adopted the 2012 IRC as the statewide residential code and the 2012 IBC as the statewide commercial building code. Tex. Loc. Gov't Code Ann. § 214.212 (IRC) and Tex. Loc. Gov't Code Ann. § 214.216 (IBC). No adoption of the International Existing Building Code was found in the municipal code; however, the Texas State Building Code adopted the 2012 IRC and allows municipalities to adopt local amendments for the administration and enforcement of standards, including those provisions related to the rehabilitation of existing residential dwellings. Texas Local Government Code § 214.212.
Also, note that "Industrialized housing and buildings," meaning buildings constructed for industrial purposes must comply with the 2015 ICC codes. 16 Texas Administrative Code § 70.100.
