Overview
After researching, we were unable to locate the building code adoption ordinance. However, it appears that the county regulates building codes in a manner consistent with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (VUSBC) (based upon the ICC body of codes). Va. Code Ann. § 36-105.

Effective 09/04/2018, the state of Virginia adopted the 2015 Virginia Residential Code.
Existing Buildings
Existing buildings, meaning buildings that were built in accordance to code at the time of
construction, typically merit extra consideration in a current updated code.

Chapter 11 of the 2015 VEBC provides retrofit regulations.
Appendix J of the 2015 IRC was not included in the 2015 VRC.
