The “Textile Restoration” course is designed to help adjusters understand the size and scope of textiles and soft contents on a loss site, as well as how adjusters can effectively and efficiently resolve losses involving textiles. The module is presented by Matt Weaver, Vice President at CRDN, the Certified Restoration Drycleaning Network.

This course breaks down the process of textile restoration and how textile restoration services flow through the claims process. Matt Weaver begins with a brief introduction and history of textile care and its evolution inside the restoration industry. He discusses textile restoration and how it relates to mitigation of loss and emergency services for those who have suffered a loss to their property. Next, the complete process of textile restoration is broken down into its fundamental components, giving a clear view and understanding of the actual process of restoring soft contents and textiles.

He emphasizes how to determine what is restorable and not, so that an adjuster can make educated decisions during the claims process to provide the insured with a solution that returns them to pre-loss condition in the most time and cost effective way possible. Finally, he concludes with a step-by-step explanation of the restoration process in relationship to the “lifecycle” of a claim.

After completing the course, the attendee will be able to understand the processes needed to determine the best way to handle textiles and soft contents that have suffered damage as a result of an insured loss; discuss the history of textile restoration; outline the standard expectations for textile restoration; provide an overview of the textile restoration process; identify dye migration; understand the processes involved in the removal of contaminants; list the four key components of the cleaning process; describe the general and specialized steps in the restoration process; outline the common pitfalls specific to window treatments and area rugs; identify items that should not be restored; recognize when a textile expert would not be necessary; and recognize those services that are an essential element of textile restoration.

The course is designed for insurance professionals working in the area of property adjusting.
