The PTSD course is designed to familiarize adjusters and litigators with important aspects of post-traumatic stress disorder. The module is presented by Peter R. Reilly, President and Director of Injury Analysis for Dynamic Claims Solutions, Inc.

There are an increasing number of mental health claims and lawsuits surrounding PTSD and other stress-related claims. The PTSD course details the diagnostic criteria for PTSD, the effectiveness of medication and the common treatments, and the means of challenging the validity of a questionable PTSD diagnosis.

After completing the course, the attendee will be able to explain or describe what is PTSD; the evolution of the condition; the meaning of Acute Stress Disorder; the six Diagnostic Criteria as outlined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health; how to know whether a patient is taking his/her medication and whether they are effective; the importance of establishing a patient’s pre-accident baseline; the forms of treatment, specifically exposure therapies; the ways to challenge a questionable PTSD claim; and the importance of differential diagnosis and going through the five axes of diagnosis.

The course is designed for practitioners and insurance professionals working in the area of insurance coverage and litigation for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
