The “Commercial Flooring Claims” course is designed to help adjusters enhance their knowledge, understanding, and professional competence of commercial flooring claims involving the decision as to whether to repair or replace. The module is presented by Mauricio Rodriguez, President of Nativo, Inc.

This course is designed to provide claim teams with a solid background and foundation for deciding when to repair and when to replace damaged flooring. The course begins with an overview of the program, and a discussion of flooring types. First it examines stone floors, the different types, and the common damages. Next, it explores laminate and wood flooring, including comparing solid and engineered wood. Tile floors and the three methods of installation are evaluated, followed by a comparison of concrete and terrazzo flooring, including the various substances that make up concrete. The last two sections apply that information to the decision of when to repair and when to replace, including the factors to consider and two practical scenarios.

After completing the course, the attendee will be able to identify the methods used to install floors such as tile; ask the right questions about installation methodology; enumerate the benefits and disadvantages of various flooring types; apply factors to decide when to repair and when to replace; and suggest methods to repair or match damaged flooring. The course is primarily designed for insurance professionals working in the area of property adjusting.
