Overview

The State Code of Florida requires that all municipalities and counties within the state enforce the most current (5th edition, 2014, effective 06/30/15) Florida Building Code, including Building, Residential and Existing Building Codes, at a minimum. St. Augustine, FL, further amended the state code with additional, more stringent, provisions. St. Augustine, FL, municipal code § 8-101.

St. Augustine, FL, adopted the following Florida Building Code appendices:

  • A (weights of building materials for the city),
  • B (standard for passive radon-resistant new residential construction)
  • C (mitigation of radon in existing buildings)
  • D (ehabilitation and guidelines for rehabilitating historic buildings)
  • E (radon-resistant new commercial building construction) of the Florida Building Code, Building

National Electric Code, 1999 Edition, published by the National Fire Protection Association, Inc., as referenced as NFPA 70 in Chapter 27 of the Florida Building Code, Building, is hereby adopted and incorporated herein by reference as the electric code for the city. All sections of the electric code adopted by this section are amended to prohibit the use or installation of aluminum wiring for any type of installation.
