Residential Building Code

California adopted a statewide mandatory residential code that will control; however, local governments are free to make laws more strict (with some limitations).See PLRB, California Building Codes for more information on state level codes.

San Joaquin County adopted the 2013 California Residential Code, including Appendices G [Swimming Pools, Spas and Hot Tubs] and H [Patio Covers]. San Joaquin County, Cal., Muni Code § 8-1012.

The County did not adopt Chapter 1, Division II of the 2013 California Residential Code, and the County uses Chapter 1, Division II of the 2013 California Building Code as amended to administer the County’s Residential Code. San Joaquin County, Cal., Muni Code § 8-1012.1 – Administration.
