Overview
Lorain adopted the Ohio Building Code and the Ohio residential Building code of the state.
1505.01 ADOPTION.
Ohio Administrative Code 4101:8 – Residential Code of Ohio as promulgated by the Ohio Board of Building Standards, shall apply and be enforced within the City of Lorain, Ohio.

Lorain, OH Muni. Code Sec. 1505.1 Adoption
1503.01 ADOPTION.
(a) Pursuant to Ohio R.C. 731.231, there is hereby adopted by the City of Lorain, the 2002 Edition of the Ohio Building Code (OBC) and the Ohio Mechanical Code (OMC) 2002 Edition and the 2002 Ohio Plumbing Code (OPC) as adopted by the Ohio Board of Building Standards, Department of Commerce, effective July 1, 2002 as published in Division 4101:2-1 to 4101:2-69 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
(b) The ICC International Building Code 2000 Edition as published by the Building Officials and Code Administrators, International Inc., and West Group is incorporated herein as fully set out at length.
(c) All subsequent additions of the Ohio Building Code (OBC), the Ohio Mechanical Code (OMC) and the Ohio Plumbing Code (OPC) as adopted by the Ohio Board of Building Standards and the ICC International Building Code as published by the Building Officials and Code Administrators are hereby adopted.

State amendments modify the drip-edge provision Sec. R905.2.8.5. The code no longer explicitly requires drip-edges as would be stated in the 2018 IRC. Instead, the code refers to Secs. 903.1 & 905.1, which then refer to the manufacturer's installation instructions. Ohio Admin. Code 4101:8-9-01 Roof assemblies (905.2.8.5).

905.1 Roof covering application.Roof coverings shall be applied in accordance with the applicable provisions of this section and the manufacturer's installation instructions. Unless otherwise specified in this section, roof coverings shall be installed to resist the component and cladding loads specified in Table 301.2(2), adjusted for height and exposure in accordance with Table 301.2(3).
