PLRB Distance Learning Module Program Grows

Requests for Adjuster CE Credit Strong

The Distance Learning Module program of the Property & Liability Resource Bureau is a major resource for the professional development of claims adjusters. So far this year, 8,415 adjusters have taken a PLRB Distance Learning Module for adjuster continuing education credit.

The modules with the highest number of CE applicants between January and September 30 were:

  1. "Ethics for Claims Professionals" @ 575 applicants;
  2. "Accident Scene Investigation" @ 409 applicants;
  3. "Ethics for the Street Level Adjuster" @ 343 applicants; and
  4. "Basic Claims Handling" @ 341 applicants.

So far in 2015, 10,130 people have completed a module. A total of 71 adjusters have completed the PLRB Distance Learning Certification Program; 40 completed the property course and 31 completed the casualty course of instruction. Another 2,981 have completed the CE modules without requesting any credit.

As of October 2, 2015, at total of 69,453 people have completed distance learning modules since the program was initiated by the PLRB. The modules with the highest total usage to date are:

  1. "Introduction to Negligence Concepts" @ 3,736;
  2. "Coverage for Water Back Ups and Overflows" @ 3,436;
  3. "Accident Scene Investigation" @ 3,099; and
  4. "Water Damage Exclusions."

The PLRB Distance Learning Module Program is sponsored by FIRSTeam Fabric Restoration Service Team. The modules are available at no cost to employees of PLRB member insurance companies and Affiliate members.

The program offers 61 modules with CE/CLE credit. There 28 available in property adjusting, 26 in casualty adjusting, and seven in the general interest category.

New modules introduced so far in 2015 include:

  • "Earthquake Damage Assessment and Repair"
  • "HVAC Systems and Loss Evaluation"
  • Textile Restoration"
