Educate - Innovate - Invigorate

After two and a half days of intense claim education and professional development at the 2015 PLRB Claims Conference in Anaheim, California, it will be time for a luncheon break and an interesting peak at that southern California phenomenon, the movie industry.  Joe Petricca will tell the Claims Conference attendees how the American movie heritage is being preserved and readied for future generations.

Joe Petricca

Executive Vice Dean, AFI Conservatory

PLRB Claims Conference Wednesday Luncheon Speaker

His presentation "America's Promise:  The American Film Institute and Movies in America," will tell the story of how the film industry is helping educate the next generation of story tellers at the American Film Institute's AFI Conservatory.  The Wednesday luncheon, which is a no-fee affair included with each attendee's registration, is a Claims Conference tradition, providing an interesting and informative look at a subject of importance in the local area where the Conference is meeting.

The American Film Institute was created by Congress and began operations in 1967.  In addition to preserving the heritage of the motion picture, it honors the artists and their work.  Looking to the future, it helps educate writers and produces about 100 short films annually.

Making movies is a risky venture, and Petricca will tell the story of how the next generation of film makers learn about the day-to-day reality of risk management.  At the AFI Conservatory, he provides legal and business affairs oversight for the productions.

Petricca is a graduate of New York University with a Bachelors in Fine Arts degree in Film Production.  He also holds a Masters in Fine Arts degree from the American Film Institute.  An accomplished screenwriter and art director, Petricca has worked on numerous television, film, music video, and commercial projects.
